A+ Program

The A+ program provides scholarship funds to students who attended an A+ designated high school and wish to attend a two year university or technical school. The program covers nearly all of the tuition and fees for two years at a community college or technical school. In general students need a 2.5 GPA and 95% attendance to qualify. All of the requirements are listed below.

Participation in the A+ program is completely voluntary and is available to all students in grades 9-12 (unless they have been previously eliminated from participating because of violating a+ policy). There is no limit to the number of students in each class who may participate. Students who wish to participate must sign an A+ Participation Agreement and return it to the A+ office for filing. Participation can begin at any time prior to the second week in November of the senior year. However, for monitoring purposes, it is recommended that students sign an agreement as soon as they enter high school. If enrolling at a later date, prior discipline records, GPA, and such will be considered for eligibility. The requirements for eligibility are as follows:

1. Attend an A+ designated High School for three years.

2. Graduate with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

3. Graduate with a minimum, cumulative attendance rate of 95%.

4. Maintain record of good citizenship at school and in the community.

5. Avoid the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.

6. Perform a minimum total of 50 hours unpaid tutoring through the school district.

7. Complete, submit and provide proof of submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid during the spring of their senior year.

8. Register with selective service in accordance with federal law.

9. Meet all local A+ deadlines by submitting all required documentation.

10. Achieve a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra I EOC exam, or a higher level DESE approved EOC exam in the field of math. If you meet all of the eligibility requirements except the end of course exam requirement, you may establish eligibility by achieving a qualifying score on the COMPASS exam published by ACT, Inc. or the mathematics component of the ACT test.

State payments for tuition and general fees are subject to state budgeting processes and are dependent upon the availability of funds by the Missouri General Assembly.

Many tutoring opportunities are available in our middle school and elementary school classrooms.
