Project Lead the Way at GVHS

PLTW at GVHS

Project Lead The Way Distinguished Gateway School 2025-2026.At our high school, we are committed to preparing students for the fast-paced, high-demand careers of tomorrow. We are proud to offer three comprehensive, multi-year Project Lead The Way (PLTW) pathways: Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Computer Science.

PLTW courses go far beyond traditional classroom learning. Students engage in rigorous, hands-on, problem-solving experiences that mirror the real-world industries they will enter. By working with industry-standard software, advanced lab equipment, and collaborative engineering design processes, our students don't just learn about a career field—they practice it. These pathways empower students to develop critical thinking, grit, and the technical skills needed to excel in college and beyond.

Here are the career-accelerating pathways our students can pursue:

  • The Engineering Pathway: Designed for students who love to design, build, and solve complex problems. Students step into the role of engineers as they learn to use professional 3D modeling software, program robotics, analyze materials, and study fluid power systems. This pathway culminates in a capstone project where students work in teams to design and prototype an original solution to an open-ended engineering problem.
  • The Biomedical Science Pathway: Perfect for future doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals. Students take on the role of real biomedical professionals as they investigate medical mysteries, analyze DNA evidence, study human anatomy and physiology, and design innovative solutions to global health challenges. Through hands-on lab work, they learn the technical skills and clinical thinking required in the modern medical field.
  • The Computer Science Pathway: Built for the creators, coders, and digital architects of the future. This pathway moves students beyond being tech-savvy to becoming computational thinkers. Students learn to code in industry-standard languages, build mobile apps, dive into data analysis, and explore the critical world of cybersecurity. They collaborate to develop creative, secure digital solutions to real-world problems.

Through these pathways, our high school students gain a distinct competitive advantage, discovering their career passions early and building the skills to lead the next generation of innovation.
