Graduation Ceremony

Grain Valley High School 2024 Graduation

The 2024 Grain Valley High School graduation will take place at Cable Dahmer Arena (19100 E Valley View Parkway, Independence, MO 64055) on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Doors will open for guests to enter the building at 6:15 pm. Each senior will receive 10 general admission tickets due to Arena capacity and the growing class sizes, but suites will be available for purchase. Suite purchases are done directly through the Arena and more information will be sent out in April. Rehearsal will be at 5:30 pm on the same day at the arena for seniors. Seniors will make their own arrangements to arrive at the arena beginning at 5:00 pm for the rehearsal. Students must arrive by 5:20 to participate in the Graduation Ceremony.

Cap & Gown Orders
Jostens will be at the high school for orders on October 5th.  If your student has not purchased their cap and gown through Jostens, you can still call them to place orders over the phone. The number is 816-523-4900

Dress Code

Graduation is one of the defining moments in our seniors' lives. Our graduating seniors have asked all who will share their graduation to demonstrate respect for their accomplishments. To that end, they have requested the following guidelines regarding guests' dress.
Guests

  • Men are asked to dress in slacks, shirts, and shoes. Senior citizens only will be considered presentable in tennis/walking shoes.
  • Women are asked to wear a dress or slacks or skirt and shirt with shoes or dress sandals. Senior citizens only will be considered presentable in tennis/walking shoes.
  • Children 12 and under will be considered presentable in shorts, blue jeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts.
  • Hats should be removed before entering the building.

Graduates

  • Males are asked to wear slacks, shirts, and shoes. (No blue jeans, shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes, beach/shower sandals)
  • Females are asked to wear a dress, slacks, or skirt with dress shoes or sandals. (No blue jeans, shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes, beach/shower sandals)
  • Graduation cap decoration is permitted per staff and administration approval.


Venue Rules

  • Bags will be checked upon entry to the venue. If possible, please leave bags in your vehicle or do not bring to the venue.
  • No outside food or drink will be allowed. (Clear plastic sealed bottles of water and baby bottles will be permitted.)
  • No weapons of any kind are allowed in the venue. (No guns, knives, tasers, mace, razor type blades, brass knuckles, etc.)

  • Noisemakers of any kind are not allowed.
  • Cell phones and electronic devices should be silenced.
  • Photographs may be taken discretely from your seat only. Professional photographs will be available. Fifteen minutes after the ceremony is complete, graduates and their families are free to take photographs.
  • Abide by instructions from the auditorium facility and staff.

Graduates

  • Graduates will be respectful of their peers at all times.
  • Graduates will present themselves in a dignified manner appropriate to the occasion.
  • Graduates will carry their name index cards only. Noisemakers, toys, and gadgets are not permitted.
  • Graduates will abide by the requests of their faculty escort.


Pictures and Video

Photographs may be taken discretely from your seat only. Professional photographs will be available. Fifteen minutes after the ceremony is complete, graduates and their families are free to take photographs.
